  • An emotional main story and hours of extra content consisting of gripping side missions, heart-wrenching moral dilemmas and electrifying investigations.

SHADOW OF CONSPIRACY - SECTION 2 tells a story set in one of the most exciting metropolises in times of turmoil: a Berlin of the year 2087, which can also be considered the game’s secret protagonist.

Cyberization, overpopulation, scarcity of resources and corruption

rule over the day-to-day life here.

A divided Europe and the fear of cyber- terrorism, hacking and the philosophical issues surrounding cyborgs and humans are just as much the focus as the usual social and sociocritical critical elements - everything is in extreme social change.

Urbanization is even more extreme in the year 2087 - a continuation of a trend that is in full swing during our present, with more and more people fleeing from the countryside to the city.

A rise in poverty and unemployment stands in stark contrast to the excess and luxury of the Berlin City nightlife.

Far out, separated by a new wall, lies the so-called Underground - the outcasts who have been completely excluded from city life, comparable to the division of Germany 100 years before the game is set.

Players are confronted with these and other themes in the futuristic setting and have to deal with all decisions they make in the course of the game.

As oppressive as the world of SHADOW OF CONSPIRACY - SECTION 2 might seem from these descriptions, it is nonetheless a very poetic and artistically appealing project, and a loving portrait of a very special place.

With every step players take forward in the game’s main story, they also feel like they are traveling backwards in time due to parallels to today’s society as well as events of the late 20th century - like the fall of the Berlin wall, just to name one of many examples.

Emotional elements like humanity, love, conspiracies and betrayal

are an essential part of the story concept.

Story:

It all begins in one fateful night: The population of Berlin is in uproar after the head of all police sections has been brutally murdered.

Nolan, one of the best police officers in the city and the main character of the game, is given the mission to find and protect the police chief’s daughter - a potential key to the mystery of her father’s death.

Equipped with a versatile arsenal, special abilities and technology, Nolan sets out on a quest to locate Natalie as quickly as possible. He must choose the right path, because with each step he gets closer to her, a far-reaching conspiracy opens up more and more.

When he finds Natalie, a modern woman who determines her own life and future, the two of them develop an emotional connection - one built on love, fear and uncertainty.

Multiple extra-modes after the first playthrough, including the option to relive the story as the antagonist - revealing new details of the plot and setting.

This unique feature increases the replay value enormously and shows the main story from a new perspective.

Over the course of the game, the missions can be solved in a variety of ways - some of which might even affect much later parts of the game. The use of different abilities as well as their upgrades and the rich character development make for a varied gameplay experience and leave the player with complete freedom.

The player always has the choice whether to enter an area aggressively or unnoticed - or to obtain certain information via

technical means.

Player freedom extends so far that it is even possible to finish the game without needing to eliminate a single enemy.

All this means that Shadow of Conspiracy - Section 2 has great replay value, further strengthened by the fact that after the first playthrough you can also play the game from the antagonist's point of view and thus experience and understand his motivations and actions from a completely different perspective.

The player finds many relics, clues or documents telling of a long lost and forgotten Berlin-Brandenburg. The 12 districts of today’s Berlin have been split into 24 parts, their varied names like Kreuzberg, Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg have been reduced to simple numbers: Section 1, Section 2, etc.

You learn more about the background history and Berlin City, which is sealed off from the outside world (the so-called wasteland) by a wall that only lets selected special forces like Nolan back in - unlike the outcasts who are stuck in the wasteland once they pass the wall.

The wasteland is home not just to the outcasts, but also to uncontrollable machines that have developed a life of their own due to malfunctions in their programming and erratically roam the land.

There is hardly any life left in the wasteland, aside from a small ecosystem and sparse amounts of drinkable water.

The outcasts live in smaller settlements or caves that they have built themselves and have split into different factions, such as the Underground.

Later on, fast travels enables fater movement between the camps in the wasteland, but this will cost resources.

Abandoned settlements might still be decent sources for food, while ammo and cyber parts can be found anywhere in the wasteland and used for upgrades. Machine enemies have better chances of dropping cyber parts, but are also harder to defeat - especially since they are more numerous at nighttime, while human enemies are more common during daytime.
